Red, White, Pink & Green - A message from the GFS PTA Zero Waste Committee
Show the Earth some love this Valentine’s Day by encouraging your child to make their own Valentines from items and art supplies you already have around the house and/or that can be recycled. Many store bought Valentines can also be recycled.
DEI Update
Why is Black History Month celebrated in February? In 1926, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a
historian and second African American to receive a Ph.D from Harvard University, chose the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln to be the first National Negro Week. The week became Black History Month in the years that followed and was officially recognized by President Gerald Ford in 1976. Learn more about the origins of Black History Month from this guide from the Westport Library.
A Note from our SpEd Reps
