Fall Fest- Tickets On Sale Now!

Purchase your tickets here for the second annual Fall Fest, on Thursday, October 17th at Little Barn. Drinks, light bites, music, mingling and an incredible assortment of teacher experience auction items to bid on. Tickets available via Membership Toolkit.

 

ArtSmart Parent Volunteer Meeting

Please sign up for ArtSmart and come to an information meeting for parent volunteers on 9/27 at 9:15 in the GFS Cafeteria. This meeting is for anyone who volunteered for ArtSmart AND anyone wanting to learn more. No art experience/knowledge needed- just a desire to have fun and get involved. 

 

Kindergarten Lunch & Recess Duty

Kinder parents interested in volunteering for Lunch & Recess Duty, mark your calendar for Thursday, September 26th at 9:15am for an informational meeting. Volunteers to help out on a bi-monthly basis in the cafeteria and on the playground. This is a year-long commitment beginning the week of October 7th, and is open to parents of Kindergarteners only. Meeting will be held in the GFS cafeteria.

Culture Club Returns to GFS!

GFS's Culture Club meets monthly, beginning in February, to discuss the district-wide heritage months.  Students in grades 3-5 are encouraged to attend this fun after-school program to learn more about the world around them  Please save the dates!  Also, if you can help the parent-lead group plan these sessions or if we are celebrating your heritage please contact: thegfscultureclub@gmail.com. 

• Feb. 10th: Black History

• March 10th: Women's History

• April 21st: Neurodiversity

• May 12th: Asian/Pacific Island American / Jewish Heritage

• June 9th: You Be You Day (TBD date is based on the district-decided date)

Hispanic Heritage Month 

This year’s theme for Hispanic Heritage Month 2024, according to the National Archives, is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.”  The theme and its corresponding poster are selected by the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers (NCHEMP), who advocate for Hispanic participation and representation in the federal government. As the NCHEMP press release states, “The theme encapsulates the spirit of innovation, resilience, and unity that define the Hispanic experience.” 

 

GFS is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with this bulletin board. If you are in the building please check it out!

Shout Outs

Thanks to the Garden Committee, Lauren Tietze, Lauran Wenitzky and Liz Broglio, as well as the volunteers who helped out at the Clean Up Day. 

Also, many thanks to Erica Barratt and Lizzie Wolfe for leading the volunteers on a successful Picture Day.
