Gemma Porrino recently wrote to the WPS Charwells Director to inquire about the possibility of having a broader variety of healthy options during elementary lunch, sparking a change in food service offerings.
This week Jimmy Lambert and Ryan McKinnon from the Bridgeport Islanders, along with the Islanders mascot Storm, visited the school and met with the GFS students.
Last week our fifth-grade students performed 101 Dalmatians.
Former state senator Will Haskell addresses grade 3 GFS students about local and state government. Students were mesmerized as Will taught them about the three branches and government, making it relevant and engaging for all.
On Thursday, December 21, the GFS 4th and 5th-grade chorus and the 5th-grade orchestra under the direction of Mrs. Suzanne Propp and Ms. Ellen Hardy performed for the students and staff during school and in the evening for parents and families. Some of the songs performed were; River by Joni Mitchell, Down By the Riverside, Skater’s Waltz by Emile Waldteufel, and Nutcracker March by Tchaikovsky.
Last week, the GFS students visited the annual PTA book fair.
