Christopher Breyan approaches each day as a new and exciting learning opportunity. He earned his Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Rhode Island.
Christopher spent nearly 10 years as a news and sports reporter on the Connecticut Post, the third largest daily newspaper in the state. He traveled all over the country as the beat writer for the University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball Team for three years. One of his memorable stories was covering the Marathon during the Special Olympics World Games in New Haven.
Christopher began his career in education as a fifth grade teacher at Middle Gate Elementary School in Newtown in 1998. He transferred to Reed Intermediate School when it opened in January of 2003, where he continued teaching fifth grade. After five years at Reed Intermediate School, he assumed a leadership role as the Lead Teacher at Hawley Elementary School, where he split his time between teaching and administrative duties. He spent five years as the Lead Teacher before accepting his current position in Westport as an assistant principal at Greens Farms Elementary School. He values the supportive and collaborative learning community at GFS, which has been established through the collective effort of the students, staff, and parents.
Christopher is an avid golfer, who played at the collegiate level. His favorite foursome includes his three daughters. He has coached soccer and basketball for many years. He enjoys traveling with his wife and daughters.
